UEFA's third club competition is also its youngest — introduced for the 2021/22 season alongside a restructured Europa League, giving mid-table clubs from across the continent a realistic route to a European final. In its short life it has already produced 5 different champions from 3 countries in 5 editions — no club has yet retained the trophy.

A Different Winner, Every Single Year

José Mourinho's Roma won the inaugural final in Tirana in 2022. West Ham followed in 2023, Olympiacos in 2024 — the first major European trophy in the Greek club's history — then Chelsea in 2025. None of the competition's champions so far have gone on to win it again, the only one of UEFA's three club trophies where every final to date has been won by a first-time champion in that edition. Whether that streak survives its next few seasons is part of what makes a young competition like this one worth tracking from the very start.
